How to Generate Blog Content For The Year (In Just One Hour!)

Struggling to come up with blog post ideas for your business? Here are five content creation ideas you can use to create content for your online business in just one hour! #blogpostideas #contentcreationideas #contentcreationonlinebusiness #onlinebusinesstips #contentcreationblogtips

Planning content doesn’t need to be stressful when there are so many awesome resources at your fingertips just waiting to be used. To prove it I’m going to the give you the EXACT methods I used to generate blog content ideas for the entire year (one per week).

So why even create all this free blog content in first place?

You started your business to serve others and to share your gifts with those who need it most.

You’re passionate about what you do and you want to change women’s lives.

Great then we’re on the same page!

But wait there’s a catch... no one is going to invest in those services if they don’t know who you are or trust that you know what you’re talking about.

How can you build trust with a stranger?

Give them insight into who you are and what you value and let them know how what you do can help them. It’s all about showing up and letting yourself be seen. By providing tons of value in blog posts you can consistently serve your audience AND establish yourself as an expert in your field.

Sure it will take a bit more time out of your schedule but in the long run it will pay off tenfold.

Are you ready to get creating?

Brain dump

First things first, get a clear picture of WHO you’re talking to in your minds eye. There’s no point writing 101 ideas only to learn that nobody actually cares. Once you know who she is it’s time to set your first timer for ten minutes with no distractions.

Find a quiet space, pop some music on... lock out your boyfriend/kids and do whatever you need to do to set the scene and get the creative juices flowing. Now start writing freehand, even if it sounds weird and doesn’t entirely make sense. It’s important to do this with physical pen and paper so that the words are falling out of your brain on to the paper with no editing.

Market Research

After just that initial flow of creative energy it’s time for one of my personal favourite content creation methods... sleuthing for clues.

We already know what our target persona loves to do and is passionate about, so it’s time to head to where she hangs out. I like to use Facebook groups for this step but your hangout spot may be somewhere different.

Set a ten minute timer and write/type any frequently asked questions that pop up.

These questions that we KNOW our audience are desperate to hear the answers to provide the basis for some super targeted content that you might not have otherwise thought of.

Don’t you just love when someone does the work for you?

Ask questions

One of the best ways to generate blog post ideas is by ASKING your audience what they’d like to see from you. After all, they’re the ones who are gonna be reading it.

Take 15 minutes to set up some surveys across your social media accounts using the poll feature. You can get super specific and say would you rather see posts about short haired cats or long haired cats?

Or more broad and say would you like to read blog posts about cats or dogs*?

*Use questions relevant to your brand. But dogs, always dogs...

Always leave an option for people to add their own topic that is not included or encourage them to DM or leave their own option. You might just be surprised what sparks people’s interest.

Celebrate the holidays

Head to an online calendar and check out all the holidays coming up this year. Sure you’ve got your traditional and widely celebrated ones like Christmas and Valentine’s Day but there are LOADS of interesting national days that can inspire some fun content. Write down any that spark your interest and don’t forget to include the date!

Research old blog posts

This last tip is a simple one, but one that can repeated over and over.

Set a timer for 15 minutes and head to your blog or Google Analytics and write down your most popular blog posts. Is there a way you can put a new spin on these to create (almost) *brand new* content?

The best part is repurposing doesn’t just apply to old blog posts. You can use all the new ideas you’ve come up with to create blog posts and then you can chop and change these posts into Instagram captions, email blasts, courses, e-books, videos and podcasts and the list goes on.

But wait, there’s more…

Need a hand getting all the awesome content you’ve created in front of the right eyeballs?
